All catholic churches will have a crib, or nativity scene at Christmas. The scene will be set up and the figures added throughout advent and the final figure, the baby Jesus, will be added on the evening of 24th December at midnight mass.

Today in the church of Santi Apostoli, in the Cannaregio district of Venice, they are setting up the crib. The church, which was started in the 7th century, reputedly on the site where Saint Magnus saw a vision of the twelve apostles, was rebuilt in 1575, apart from the Corner family chapel, which is supposed to be the work of Mauro Codussi and dates to the 1490s.
